A former elementary school teacher who worked for two school districts in the Kansas City area has been indicted by a federal grand jury on additional child pornography charges.
Dennis Adlai Hernandez, 28, now faces a thirteen-count federal superseding indictment filed in the U.S. District Court in Kansas City, Missouri. Hernandez was previously charged with seven counts, including five counts of production and attempted production of child pornography, transportation of child pornography, and possession of child pornography. The new indictment adds six more counts related to the production and attempted production of child pornography. According to authorities, the alleged offenses involve twelve minor victims and occurred between August 2022 and August 2025.
“The charges contained in this superseding indictment are simply accusations, and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charges must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence,” according to the press release.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Alison Dunning is prosecuting the case following an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The case falls under Project Safe Childhood, an initiative started by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to address child sexual exploitation and abuse. The program brings together federal, state, and local resources to find and prosecute those who exploit children and to help identify victims.
