A federal grand jury in Kansas City, Missouri, has indicted Edras Leonel Alcides Ramirez-Peralta, a 35-year-old Guatemalan national, for illegal reentry into the United States after being previously deported. According to officials, Ramirez-Peralta was arrested on December 17, 2025, by Immigration and Customs Enforcement Criminal Alien Program agents. Authorities determined that he had been deported to Guatemala on November 15, 2024.

The indictment includes one count of illegal reentry. Prosecutors emphasized that these charges are accusations and not evidence of guilt. “Evidence supporting the charges must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence,” the release stated.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Rudolph R. Rhodes IV is prosecuting the case following an investigation by ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations unit.

This case falls under Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative led by the Department of Justice aimed at addressing illegal immigration and combating cartels and transnational criminal organizations.
