A Kansas City man has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges related to the distribution of controlled substances and illegal firearms sales. German Alvarez-Rubio, 28, was arrested on January 12, 2026, and made his first appearance in federal court shortly after.

According to the indictment, Alvarez-Rubio is accused of distributing cocaine on July 22, 2025. The following week, on July 29, he allegedly distributed both cocaine and methamphetamine and illegally sold ten firearms. On August 19, prosecutors say he distributed methamphetamine, cocaine, and psilocybin (mushrooms), and was found in illegal possession of a machinegun.

Authorities emphasize that these charges are accusations at this stage. “The charges contained in this indictment are simply accusations, and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charges must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence,” the release states.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Heather Siegele is prosecuting the case. The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) along with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

This prosecution falls under Operation Take Back America—a national effort led by the Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration and dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations to enhance community safety.
