Two Kansas City men have been sentenced in connection with a 2022 carjacking that took place in St. Louis County. U.S. District Judge John A. Ross sentenced Reginald Hudson, 29, to 125 months in prison on Monday. Earlier, on July 9, Judge Ross sentenced Ki’Juan Calhoun, 28, to 144 months in prison. Both were ordered to pay $24,438 in restitution.
According to court documents, Hudson and Calhoun pleaded guilty in April to one count of carjacking and one count of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. The two admitted to stealing a 2019 Ford Fusion at gunpoint from a woman outside her apartment on January 12, 2022. The victim reported seeing two men descending the stairs with handguns pointed at her before one demanded her keys, purse, and phone. Both suspects then fled the scene in her vehicle.
During sentencing, Judge Ross addressed the victim directly: “I completely understand the terror you had to be feeling that night.”
The following day, Kansas City Police located the stolen vehicle. Their investigation led them to Hudson at a nearby home where they also recovered the victim’s purse and debit card as well as two handguns.
The case was investigated by the St. Louis County Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ashley Walker.
