Mexican national pleads guilty in Missouri for transporting illegal aliens

A Mexican national has pleaded guilty in federal court to conspiracy to transport illegal aliens. Lisandro Garcia-Ramirez, 23, entered his plea before U.S. Magistrate Judge Lajuana M. Counts to one count of conspiracy to transport illegal aliens.

Garcia-Ramirez was arrested on February 20, 2025, while traveling on Interstate 70 in Saline County, Missouri. He admitted that he transported individuals whom he knew were present in the United States illegally.

According to federal law, Garcia-Ramirez could face up to 10 years in federal prison without parole. The actual sentence will be determined by the court after a presentence investigation is completed by the United States Probation Office.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Teresa Moore is prosecuting the case, which was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations under the Department of Homeland Security.

The prosecution falls under Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative led by the Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration and dismantling criminal organizations. According to the Department of Justice, this operation brings together resources from Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN) to address these issues across communities.

“This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime. Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).”
