A Mexican citizen, Andres G. Angel-Martinez, 25, has been sentenced for illegally reentering the United States. U.S. District Judge Greg Kays handed down a sentence of time served after Angel-Martinez pleaded guilty to illegal reentry by a previously removed alien on December 3, 2025. Angel-Martinez has been in custody since March 2025 and is currently held on an active immigration detainer pending deportation to Mexico.

Court documents show that Angel-Martinez was transferred to the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at the Cass County, Missouri Jail on April 15, 2025. He had previously been removed from the United States on November 11, 2019.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Rudolph R. Rhodes IV and investigated by ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO).

According to the Department of Justice, “This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.”
