A Mexican national has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison without parole after pleading guilty to charges related to methamphetamine trafficking, illegal firearm possession, and unlawful reentry into the United States.

Jose Alberto Rodriguez-Landeros, also known by several aliases including Raul Garcia and Saul Dias Gonzalez, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Roseann Ketchmark in Kansas City, Missouri.

Rodriguez-Landeros admitted to selling methamphetamine to a confidential source on three occasions in October and November of 2022. Law enforcement officials executed a search warrant at his Kansas City residence on December 13, 2022, where they found a Keltec .32 caliber pistol, identification documents with various aliases, about two kilograms of methamphetamine, roughly 148 grams of powder cocaine, and $9,500 in cash. On the same day, Rodriguez-Landeros was arrested while driving on Indiana Avenue in Kansas City; officers seized an additional 380 grams of methamphetamine and 75 grams of cocaine from him and his vehicle. Immigration records showed that he had been deported from the United States at least three times since 2000.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Trey Alford following an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Kansas City Police Department.

“This case is part of Operation Take Back America,” according to the release. “a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.”
