A Mexican national has been sentenced to 12 months in federal custody for conspiracy to transport illegal aliens, according to an announcement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri. The sentencing was handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Brian Wimes.
Lisandro Garcia-Ramirez, 23, previously pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to transport illegal aliens. He was arrested on February 20, 2025, while traveling on Interstate 70 in Saline County, Missouri. Garcia-Ramirez admitted to transporting individuals he knew were present in the United States illegally.
“This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Teresa Moore. It was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security – Homeland Security Investigations.”
The prosecution falls under Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that uses resources from the Department of Justice with goals including stopping illegal immigration and eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations.
