A man from Jefferson County, Missouri, has been sentenced to 200 years in prison for producing child pornography and abusing two children. U.S. District Judge Henry E. Autrey delivered the sentence to Jason Levi Meyrand, 31, on Monday. Meyrand was also ordered to pay $6,000 in restitution to his victims.

Meyrand pleaded guilty in August to four counts of production of child pornography. According to court documents, he sexually abused two children in 2022 and shared images of the abuse in a group on the social media application Kik that focused on child sexual abuse material. The investigation began after a detective with the North Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force found a post by Meyrand in January 2023.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Colleen Lang stated in court that “Meyrand’s criminal conduct happened about six months after he finished his state sentence for the sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl.” In 2014, Meyrand was convicted in Bates County, Missouri for child molestation and endangering the welfare of a child.

The case was investigated by the FBI, the North Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and the St. Louis County Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Colleen Lang prosecuted the case.

This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative started by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to address child sexual exploitation and abuse nationwide. More information about Project Safe Childhood can be found at www.justice.gov/psc.
