A St. Louis County resident has pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to the sale of methamphetamine and fentanyl to an undercover police detective. Stephon Murphy, 29, admitted in federal court on Tuesday to one count of distribution of methamphetamine and three counts involving both methamphetamine and fentanyl.
According to court documents, Murphy sold drugs to an undercover detective from the St. Charles County Regional Drug Task Force on four separate occasions in 2024. The transactions took place in parking lots outside apartment buildings in St. Louis County and St. Louis city.
On May 24, Murphy sold 111.8 grams of methamphetamine at a St. Louis County apartment parking lot. On June 13, he sold 113.6 grams of methamphetamine and 8.58 grams of fentanyl at the same location. Another sale occurred on July 11 outside a St. Louis apartment building, where Murphy provided 113.3 grams of methamphetamine and 3.9 grams of fentanyl. The final transaction was on August 7 at the same building, involving 112.3 grams of methamphetamine and 14.4 grams of fentanyl.
During the last sale, Murphy had what appeared to be a pistol with a drum magazine concealed in his pants, according to his plea agreement.
Murphy is set for sentencing on October 30, with each count carrying a potential penalty of up to 20 years in prison.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration along with the St. Charles County Regional Drug Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul Rebar is handling the prosecution.
