A man from St. Louis, Missouri, has been convicted on multiple drug and gun charges that could lead to a lengthy prison sentence. Christopher Glen Rhodes, 47, was found guilty in U.S. District Court of several charges including conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
Evidence presented during the trial indicated that Rhodes supplied methamphetamine sold twice to a confidential source collaborating with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The source reported previous purchases of meth and fentanyl from Demetrius A. Ransom, who is Rhodes’ co-defendant. On November 10, 2022, Rhodes provided nearly one pound of methamphetamine to Ransom, who then sold it for $2,000. Another transaction occurred on December 7, 2022.
On December 19, 2022, investigators planned a court-approved search of Rhodes’ residence but observed him leaving the premises instead. After an attempted traffic stop where Rhodes fled the scene, agents discovered significant quantities of drugs at his home along with cash and firearms.
Rhodes is prohibited from possessing firearms due to prior felony convictions. Among these is a 2002 conviction for possession with intent to distribute cocaine base which led to a substantial prison sentence that was later commuted.
Sentencing for Rhodes is set for November 25. Given his criminal history and involvement in this case, he faces at least two decades behind bars but could receive more than three decades.
Demetrius A. Ransom has already pleaded guilty in May to conspiracy charges related to distributing controlled substances and awaits sentencing on October 9 with an expected minimum term of fifteen years imprisonment.
The DEA led the investigation into this case while Assistant U.S. Attorneys Torrie J. Schneider and Don Boyce are handling prosecution duties.
