A St. Louis man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after being convicted of multiple robberies, including a bank and two mobile phone stores.
According to court records, Kentrell Jones, 42, committed the first robbery on January 20, 2022, at a bank in Jennings, Missouri. He handed a note to a teller and implied he was armed. On February 14, 2022, Jones attempted to rob a mobile phone store on South Grand Boulevard in St. Louis by threatening an employee with a gun. The attempt failed when the employee escaped into a bathroom and locked the door.
Jones then proceeded to another mobile phone store on Kingshighway Boulevard in St. Louis, where he successfully robbed the business of cash and cell phones while armed.
Jones pleaded guilty in August in U.S. District Court in St. Louis to charges of robbery, attempted robbery, bank robbery, and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.
U.S. District Judge Henry E. Autrey handed down the sentence.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI along with the St. Louis County Police Department and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Ryan Finlen and Nino Przulj prosecuted the case.
