A St. Louis man was sentenced to nearly six years in federal prison after admitting to shooting and injuring another person during a dispute earlier this year.
U.S. District Judge Henry E. Autrey sentenced Lamaar Pearson, 37, to 71 months in prison on Tuesday. Pearson had pleaded guilty in August to being a felon in possession of ammunition.
According to court documents, the incident occurred on March 29, 2024, when Pearson shot a man twice, causing injuries to the victim’s lower back and hip. After the shooting, officers with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department recovered a firearm magazine that Pearson had hidden as well as ten spent cartridge casings.
The case was investigated by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Szczucinski prosecuted the case.
