Two men from the St. Louis area have been indicted in connection with two carjackings that took place in December, while two women face charges for their alleged involvement in one of the incidents.
Davion Pruitt, 18, of St. Louis, and Tywone Calvin, 19, of Pine Lawn, were indicted on July 30 by a federal grand jury in U.S. District Court in St. Louis. Both are charged with two counts of carjacking and two counts of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. Mya Reagan, 19, and Evanna Myers-Taylor, 20, have each been charged with one count of carjacking and one count of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.
All four appeared in court Thursday and entered not guilty pleas.
According to the indictment, all four defendants participated in an armed carjacking involving a 2011 Cadillac Escalade on December 23, 2024. The indictment further alleges that Pruitt and Calvin committed another carjacking three days later, stealing a 2017 Chevrolet Trax.
Court motions seeking to detain Pruitt and Calvin until trial describe how the first victim met a woman through Facebook and agreed to pick her up in his SUV. She then asked him to stop at a gas station for cigars; at that location, two armed men approached and demanded his keys. Police later released an image of the woman involved; Reagan was identified as the woman seen with the victim, while Myers-Taylor was identified as another passenger.
In the second incident, the victim was alerted by his key fob about suspicious activity involving his vehicle. When he went outside to investigate, he encountered two armed men who took his keys, phone, and SUV. Officers from the St. Louis County Police Department later located the stolen Chevrolet Trax with Pruitt and Calvin inside. According to court documents, Calvin was arrested after crashing while fleeing police; Pruitt was arrested on February 14, 2025.
Authorities emphasized that “Charges set forth in an indictment are merely accusations and do not constitute proof of guilt. Every defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty.”
The investigation involved the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the St. Louis County Police Department, and the FBI. Assistant U.S. Attorney Torrie J. Schneider is prosecuting the case.
