Two men from St. Louis have pleaded guilty to their involvement in a drug conspiracy involving fentanyl and other substances. Dennis M. Davis, 47, entered his plea on Thursday to one count of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, including fentanyl. Shem J. Guy, 34, had previously pleaded guilty to a similar charge in June.
Both Davis and Guy admitted they were part of a group selling drugs starting at least as early as 2019. According to investigators with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the two men and their associates discussed buying and selling drugs during the investigation.
On September 6, 2023, authorities executed a court-approved search of a property identified as Davis’s “stash” house in St. Louis. There, law enforcement found $12,323 in cash, four rifles, two pistols, and a money counter. They also seized nearly five kilograms of fentanyl, almost one pound of marijuana, 285 grams of heroin, 168 grams of cocaine, 127 grams of cocaine base, and 137 grams of methamphetamine. At Davis’s residence itself, officers recovered three pistols along with more fentanyl.
Davis is scheduled for sentencing on January 15, 2026; he faces between ten years and life in prison plus a fine up to $5 million. Guy will be sentenced October 1 and could receive up to twenty years in prison or fines up to $1 million.
Both defendants have agreed to give up cash assets seized by investigators along with firearms and a 2020 Ram 1500 Big Horn truck.
The case was investigated by several agencies: the DEA; Internal Revenue Service; FBI; police departments from St. Louis County; Bridgeton; St. Louis Metropolitan area; and St. Charles County Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney James Delworth is prosecuting the case.
